Relatives in Guttenberg have been informed of the death of Joseph Schrunk at Brownsville, Ore., which occurred April 2, after a protracted illness.
Deceased was a native born Ohioan, but spent the greater part of his life in this county, coming here when a boy with his parents, who settled on a farm near Osterdock.
At the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted with the Union forces and spent three years at the front, after which he returned home and since the, for the most part, lived in Clayton county and was for some time, a number of years ago, a resident of Guttenberg.
Some years ago he removed to Oregon and bought a large farm near Brownsville, where he resided until recently when he retired from farm life and moved into town. He is survived by three sons and three daughters, also three brothers and two sisters, John Schrunk of Oregon, Thomas and W.H. of Osterdock and Mesdames Eliza Coleman and Harriet Friedlein, residents of Guttenberg.

Note: married to Cecilia (Shrank) Schrunk who died 1907. The couple were divorced, unknown date, but prior to her death.
