LaVerne "Snooks" Heller, 62, of Guttenberg died Wednesday, April 8, 1992, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a lingering illness.
Services were conducted by the Rev. L. R. Lechner at St. John Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11.
Burial was in Guttenberg City Cemetery where military honors were accorded by the American Legion and Amvets Posts. Pallbearers were Bob Eickacher, Alfred Bahls, Jack Lowell, Luke Smith, Tom Kuempel and Willie Parker.
Visitation was at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home.
LaVerne Frederick Heller was born Oct. 22, 1929 in Rockford, Ill., a son of Emil and Bernice (Horn) Heller. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. On Aug. 5, 1967 he was married at St. John Lutheran Church to Coralie Younker, who survives.
Mr. Heller was a first mate on tow boats on the Mississippi River for many years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 373 and Amvets Post 15.
He is survived by his wife, Coralie; one sister, Mrs. Donald (Joan) Sadewasser of Guttenberg; and two brothers, A. Charles "Bud" Heller of Prairieburg and Nickson Horn of Belmont, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
