Funeral services were held for Wilford D. "Willie" Parker, 68, Monday, Oct. 4, 1993, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg. Pastor Karl Goodfellow officiated the service with burial in the Guttenberg City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Clinton, Merlin Rausch, Mike Grant and Tim Graybill.
Wilford Duane Parker was born February 19, 1925, on the home farm near Osterdock, Iowa, the son of Charles and Flossie (Bush) Parker. He graduated from the Guttenberg High School in 1943; served his country in the Army during World War II and Korea; and drove truck for many years. On June 27, 1953, he was united in marriage with LaVonne Morarend at the Uniited Methodist Church in Guttenberg. He died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1993, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a long illness.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Nancy (Jeff) Marcum of New Castle, Ind.; four sons, Steve Parker, Jeff Parker and Joe Parker, all of Guttenberg, and Jimmer Parker of Templeton, Calif; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Helen (Paul) Barton and Mrs. Colleen (Norbert) Grant, all of Dubuque, and Mrs. JoAnn (Don) Dondelinger of Escondido, Calif.; five brothers, Don Parker of McGregor, Bob Parker of Garnavillo, Clyde Parker, Eldon Parker and Gary Parker, all of Guttenberg, and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
