Funeral services were held for Arthur Gustav Krieg, 86, Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1994, at Leonard-Vernon Funeral Home, Edgewood. Rev. John Quam officiated the service with burial in Musfeldt Cemetery, rural Elkport. Pallbearers were Daryl Baade, Steve Thomas, Brad Clauson and Tom Swanson.

Arthur Krieg was born August 22, 1907, in Elk Township, Clayton County, Iowa, the son of Gustav and Lena (Schlee) Krieg. He was raised and educated in the area attending rural school. He was baptized November 22, 1908, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport. On May 1, 1929, he was united in marriage to Bernice Fishel at Independence. Four children were born to this union. Over the years, he farmed the family farm. He also worked as a meat cutter for Ehrke's Locker in Strawberry Point for a couple of years. His wife died March 31, 1971. Arthur married Edna Schultz on June 9, 1973, at Prairie du Chien, Wis. Together they resided on Arthur's family farm. They have lived in Elkader over the past five years. Arthur Krieg died Saturday morning, Jan. 1, 1994, at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Manchester. He was the school board director for Elk Township #3 for several years and was also a member of Farm Bureau and later the N.F.O.

Survivors include his wife Edna; one son, Leon of Lakeland, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Thomas of Strawberry Point, Mrs. John (Una) Swanson of Manchester, and Mrs. Walter (Beverly) Clauson of Strawberry Point; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Cletus (Zala) Baade of Elkader; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Besides by his first wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Perrinjaquet, and by his parents.
