Funeral services were held for Gary Leo Leliefeld, 52, Monday, Dec. 27, 1993, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guttenberg. Father Paul Peters officiated the service with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Guttenberg. Pallbearers were Daryl Rausch, Steve Parker, Danny Walke, Keith Saeugling, Galen Moser and Darrell Fredlake. Military rites were held at the cemetery by American Legion Post 373.

Gary Leo Leliefeld was born August 28, 1941, in Guttenberg, Iowa, the son of Dan and Rose (Klein) Leliefeld. He graduated from St. Mary School, Guttenberg, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was employed at Hilton's/Trademark Homes and at present time at Kann Manufacturing, both of Guttenberg. Gary was a 20-year member of the Guttenberg Volunteer Fire Department and was captain for many years. He was Fireman of the Year in 1982. On June 6, 1964, he was united in marriage with Corinne "Cookie" Fay White at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guttenberg. She died October 7, 1991. Gary Leliefeld died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1993, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Survivors include two daughters, Kristy (Mrs. Pat) Drips of Elkader, and Rose Leliefeld of Guttenberg; two granddaughters: Lindsey and Corinne Drips; one brother, William of Guttenberg; eight sisters: Mary Sherriff, Dorothy Knudson, Joan White, Betty Leliefeld and Lois (Mrs. Richard Goerdt, all of Guttenberg, Katie (Mrs. Harry) Ben of Sherrill, Pat (Mrs. Glen) Bolsinger of Greeley, and Vera (Mrs. Clifford) Mirocko of Antioch, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife "Cookie"; two brothers, Bernard "Barnie" and Norman; and three sisters, Kathleen, Carol Rose and Opal.
