BERNARD "Bud" JEAN SCHRADER

Funeral services for Bernard "Bud" Schrader of Postville were held Saturday, June 30, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. in the Union Sunday School at Clermont. The Rev. Donald Loots officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in God's Acre at Clermont.

Bernard Jean Schrader, son of Arno and Hazel (Engelhardt) Schrader, was born December 26, 1922 near Luana, Iowa. He died Wednesday, June 27, 1990 in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic at Iowa City, Iowa.

He was baptized in St. John Lutheran Church at Luana by the Rev. Ackerman. He graduated from Clermont High School and Upper Iowa University in Fayette.

He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

On August 17, 1948 he was married to Clarice Dugstad in the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They had a son, James. They lived in Clermont for 3 years, where he taught school. He also taught at Kanawha, Iowa in 1955 and later in Ankeny. Bud was also employed by Farm Bureau Insurance as a claims adjuster for thirty years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Clarice who died June 4, 1987, and a brother, Louis.

He is survived by a son, James of Decatur, IL, 3 grandchildren, a brother, Ralph of Mesa, AZ, and his stepfather, Carl Voelz of Postville.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Tri-City Golf Club.

Casket Bearers: Marlan Cunningham, Jack Schrader, Louis "Bud" Schrader, David Smith, LaVerne Swenson, Roy Tatro, Gene Olson, John Schrader and Bill Schrader.
