AUGUST W. G. SCHRADER

Aug. Schrader Funeral Held

Funeral services for August W. G. Schrader, 95, were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 27, at 1:30 o'clock at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg with Rev. R. H. Steege officiating.

Burial was in the Gooding cemetery.

Mr. Schrader died Wednesday night, Nov. 24, at a hospital in Manchester, where he was taken Monday, Nov. 22, for treatment. His health had begun to fail during the last several months.

He was born a son of August and Mary, nee Homan, Schrader in Garnavillo township, Jan. 7, 1870. He was baptized in early infancy. He attended the rural school near his home. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran church, Clayton Center, April 6, 1884, by Rev. F. W. Seifert.

He was married to Bertha Nevermann, Jan. 21, 1896. They went to live on a farm in Wagner township. His wife died Jan. 3, 1929. After her death, he made his home with his son, Fred, moving with him to Farmersburg in 1945. He later moved with his son, Fred, to a farm west of Farmersburg. He entered the Lutheran Home of the Aged at Strawberry Point, June 10, 1958.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, four sisters, and two brothers.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Enoch (Alma) Christianson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Fred of Farmersburg; four grandchildren, and 10 grandchildren.

Mr. Schrader was a member of the Farmersburg congregation ever since it was organized, being one of the last of the original members. He was also an honorary member of the Brotherhood.

Postville Herald newspaper clipping, hand dated 1965, from my mother's obituary collection. I am wondering if it shouldn't have been 10 great grandchildren, instead of 10 grandchildren. What I typed is what the paper printed.
