Elmer Schrader Laid to Rest

Services were held Monday, February 25, 1980, at 11:00 a.m. for Elmer John Schrader at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana. Pastor Lee Mentink officiated. Pallbearers were Lester Friederich, Merlin Meyer, Virgil Fette, Ronald Schrader, Norbert Lembke, and Roger Moeller. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of services.

Elmer John Schrader, the son of Henry and Lena Miller Schrader, was born September 9, 1902, in Luana. He was baptized on October 19, 1902, and confirmed April 1, 1917, in the Lutheran faith. He attended school in Luana.

On February 20, 1929, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Fette at Meridan, Minnesota. To this union three children were born: Marvin, Beverly, and LaVern. He farmed until his retirement in 1965. He died Friday, February 22, 1980, at the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon, Ia., having reached the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 13 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Eldo. Surviving him are his wife, Elizabeth; his daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Beverly) Gunderson of Davenport; two sons, Marvin of Islamorado, Florida, and LaVern of Luana; and eight grandchildren.
