Services Held For R. Voelz
Funeral services for Reinhold Voelz, 96, were held Monday, Nov. 26, 1984 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville was in charge. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana.
Reinhold Carl August Voelz, son of Albert and Amelia (Heller) Voelz, was born May 19, 1888 at Altschlage, Germany. He died Nov. 23 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.
He was baptized May 27, 1888 at Altschlage, Germany. As a small boy he came to the United States with his parents. March 23, 1902 he was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. Reinhold attended the rural schools of Clayton County. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I.
Dec. 22, 1920 he was married to Malinda Krueger at the home of her parents. To this union two daughters were born. They farmed in the Farmersburg and Postville area with the exception of seven years when they lived near Ostrander, MN. In 1945 they bought a home in Postville and Reinhold was employed as a carpenter. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ida Ihde and Alma Voelz.
Surviving are his wife, Malinda, two daughters, Loretta (Mrs. Virgil Heins) Oelwein, and Darlene (Mrs. Clyde Fordyce) Nashua; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, a brother, Carl, Postville and two sisters, Marie Krueger, Farmersburg and Martha Kregel, Postville.
