Agnes Victoria Vellersven Passes Away
Agnes Victoria Vellersven, born on July 9, 1900 into the family of Henry and Josephine Erickson at Gunder, Iowa, died at the Community Hospital in Postville on Oct. 30, 1978.
She was baptized and confirmed at Marion Lutheran Church. She received her education in the Gunder school and graduated from the Elkader high school in 1918.
She taught in the rural schools, was organist and choir director at Marion Lutheran Church.
She was a music teacher in her home until her eyesight failed.
On June 5, 1920 she was united in marriage to Henry Vellersven at the Marion Lutheran Church.
They farmed until 1966 in Clayton Co. and retired because of ill health. Since 1976 she was a member of West Clermont Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Nora Jergenson and Mrs. Girtie Larson, and now survived by four sisters and one brother, Mrs. Emily Amundson, Clermont, Mrs. Mabel Larson, Eagle Grove, Ia., Mrs. Nettie Peake, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Mrs. Omar (Harriet) Carter, Centralia, Washington, and Peter Erickson, Shell Rock, Ia., and brother Alvin Halverson.
Rev. Keith Klemm, Pastor at Marion Lutheran Church, officiated. Mrs. Alvin Erickson sang two solos with Mrs. Corrine Landsgard as the organist. Burial was in the Marion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: David Larson, Aines Olson, Louie Erickson, Alvin Erickson, Otto Mork, and Mervin Reierson.
