Funeral mass services for Jerome "Jerry" L. Schlueter, age 85, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 26 at St. Ludmila Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with Father Dennis Juhl officiating. Burial was at St. John's Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service assisting the family with the arrangements.

Jerome L. Schlueter, son of Henry and Eleanor (Miller) Schlueter, was born March 26, 1926 in Clayton County in Guttenberg, Iowa. He attended rural school in Dundee, Iowa. Jerry served his country with the United States Army and was combat wounded during the Korean Conflict. In 1959, he was united in marriage to Martha Dvorak at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. For 28 years, Jerry worked maintenance at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a member of Catholic Order of Forresters and a lifetime member of VFW Post 788. He enjoyed golfing, visiting the casinos, gardening, lawn caring, fishing, hunting, and going to the Kernels games. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren and watching them at their activities.

Jerome L. Schlueter died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Keystone Cedars Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gerald Schlueter and Viryl Schlueter.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha; his children, Randy (Wendy) Schlueter of Marion, Iowa, Jeff (Michelle) Schlueter of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael (Amy) Schlueter of Chicago, Illinois, and Lynda (Wayne) Cook of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Brandon Schlueter, Tyler Schlueter, Anna Schlueter, Emmett Schlueter, Ryan Cook, T.J. Cook, Adam Cook, and Dustin Cook; 4 siblings, Bernice Schlueter, Marcus (Joyce) Schlueter, Francis (Theresa) Schlueter, and Marion McGrane; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Schlueter; and many nieces and nephews.
