Elkader - Funeral services for Wayne Pugh, 81, a native of the Strawberry Point community, will be held from the Witt funeral chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Paul Kitterer, pastor of the Evangelical church in Elkader officiating. Burial will be in the Mederville cemetery.
Mr. Pugh died at the McGregor hospital Wednesday afternoon. He had been taken there the day before suffering from pneumonia.
He was born March 30, 1876 on a farm near Strawberry Point and had lived in that community his entire lifetime, as a farmer.
He is survived by one son, Lorin Pugh of Strawberry Point, three brothers, Mark Pugh of Kent, Wash., Milo Pugh of Los Angeles, Calif. and Warren Pugh of Strawberry Point. Also surviving are three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Witt funeral home in Elkader is in charge of arrangements.

Wayne Pumroy Pugh, the son of Luther Pugh and his wife Julia nee Sousley, was born March 30, 1876, five miles northeast of Strawberry Point, and died at McGregor January 22, 1958, at the age of eighty-one years, nine months and twenty-two days.
Mr. Pugh received his education in the rural school, graduating from the eighth grade. His entire life was spent in Clayton county. He farmed near Mederville. He enjoyed good health for a man of his age up until a year ago. In the month of March, 1896, he was united in marriage to Nellie Clinton of Littleport. One son was born to this union, Loraine Pugh, of Strawberry Point. Two years later, the young couple moved to a farm near Mederville. He farmed his entire life with the exception of the two years which he spent working for the county.
His wife preceded him in death in 1943. Survivors include his son, Loraine; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Mark, Kent Wash.; Milo, Los Angeles, Calif., and Warren, Strawberry Point, and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Hines of Strawberry Point.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Witt funeral home at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was at Mederville.
