Aged Mother Called To Great Beyond - On last Friday morning, February 12, 1920 at 1:10 o'clock at the home of her son A. P. Schweikert in this city, with whom she had been making her home for the past several months, occurred the death of Mrs. John Schweikert nee Angeline Lewis, after a few days illness with bronchial pneumonia, and at the age of 72 years, 11 months, and 17 days.

Mrs. Schweikert was born at Maysville, Ohio on February 26, 1847, and in the 1850 she came to Clayton county Iowa with her parents settling on a farm near Osterdock.
In 1873 she was married to John Schweikert, who preceded her in death some years ago. For many years the deceased was a resident of Garber. She was a kind and loving mother and friend. Doing acts of kindness for her family and friends was her greatest pleasure in life. She was a woman who was loved by all who knew her. She was of a pleasing personality, which won her a large circle of friends.

She is survived by 8 children, John F. Schweikert, Mrs. Irene Lyons, Christine Wilcox, and Mrs. Bertha Kennedy of Dubuque, A. P. Schweikert of Guttenberg, Mrs. Anna Montgomery and Rose Knibbs of Detroit, Mich. and Mrs. Martha Woods of Port Angeles, California, 7 Step children, Fred Schweikert of Green Island, Jacob Schweikert and Mrs. Katherine Combs of Elkport, Chas Schweikert of Moline,Ill., Mrs. Willmenia Brasch of Norfolk, Nebr., Christ Schweikert of Dubuque, and Mrs. Charlotte Boardman of Edgewood, 52 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Alpheus Lewis of Seattle, Wash, Andres Lewis of Butte, Mont. and Andrew Lewis of North McGregor, and many other relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed by all.
The funeral was held Monday, and was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near which showed that the deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew her.
Interment was made in the Hansel Cemetery near Garber, Ia. Rev. Fred Riggs of the Fairview Church conducted the funeral service at the Elkport Opera house.
