On Sunday at the Oddfellows Home at Mason City, Ia. occurred the death of Mrs. August Zachmann at the age of 85 years 10 months, and 13 days. The cause of her death being old age. She was born at Tiefenort, near Eisenung, Germany on March 11, 1829. In the year 1850 she came to the United States, settling at first in the state of Pennsylvania.

In the year 1851 she was united in marriage to Mr. August Zachmann at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and later they came to Guttenberg to make their home, where they lived until 4 years ago when they went to the Oddfellows home at Mason City to spend their remaining days, and where she always received the best of care.

Her death is mourned by her aged husband, 1 foster daughter Mrs. J. H. Horsch, of Guttenberg, and a large number of friends. She was always a kind and true wife, neighbor, and friend. The funeral was held at Mason City. She was one of Guttenberg's pioneer residents, living here for about 60 years.
