Orville Doerring Passes Away

Orville Doerring of Backus, Minn., passed away at Valley Baptist Hospital, Harlington, Texas, where he had gone for the winter, on Fri., Jan. 26. Orville J. Doerring was born Aug. 11, 1897, in Clayton Co., Monona Township, south of Luana, the son of William Doerring and his wife, Friedericke Garms. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, Postville, Sept. 26, 1897 & was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana on March 31, 1912.

Orville was educated in the rural schools of Monona Twp. and also attended the Auto mechanics School of Austin, Minn.

After the death of his father in 1952 he moved to Minnesota (his mother passed away in 1949) and made his home there since. He was drafted into military service in World War I as well as World War II.

He leaves to cherish his memory, five brothers, Rev. Elmer Doerring of Kailua, Kona, Hawaiian Islands, Lorenz & John of Luana, William H. Doerring of Villa Park, Ill., and Alvin E. Doerring of Backus, Minn.

Funeral services were held Mon., Jan. 29 at 1:30 in St. John Lutheran in Luana with Pastor John Mohr officiating. Music was provided by organist, Helmuth Landt, soloist, Pastor John Mohr, and congregational singing.

Pallbearers were Carl Bundrick, Wm. Bugenhagen, Jr., Don McShane, Pastor Lane Doerring, Adrian Riveland, Harold Doerring, Dwain Wolters, Lawrence Baade, Marvin Mohs, Raymond Doerring.

Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana, with military escort and services at the grave.
