Elkader Register, Thur., 19 Feb. 1880.

Last Saturday morning, Francis Joseph Branhard*, died at the county poor farm, of old age and from the effects of injuries received from falling down stairs. His age was 83 years. The remains were buried on Sunday, Rev. Gifford preaching the funeral sermon. Branhard became an inmate of the poor house when it was at Guttenberg many years ago, and had remained ever since.
