Funeral services were held in the Marion Lutheran church at Gunder last Thursday afternoon for Henry Bigler, 71, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Monday, Aug. 2, while assisting with the threshing at the farm home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bigler near Gunder.

The deceased, who was a prominent retired farmer, was born in Marion township, Clayton county, August 20, 1871. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Bigler. He grew to manhood in this community.

He was united in marriage to Anna Swenson on February 22, 1898. They lived in Marion township until 1908, when they moved to the farm in Grand Meadow township, where they lived until six years ago when they retired and moved to Postville.

To this union was born five children, Lorenz, Mary (Mrs. Robert Wettleson), Richard, Lloyd and Alma (Mrs. Harry Heins). The latter preceded him in death as did also two brothers, Louie and Ernest, and two sisters, Lyla (Mrs. Jacob Germann) and Caroline (Mrs. Felix Miller.) His widow and the four children survive him, besides several grandchildren and other relatives.

Dr. S.J. Strandjord, pastor of the Gunder Lutheran church officiated at the funeral. Interment was in the Postville cemetery. Casket bearers were Carl Sandres, Lawrence Welzel, Ed McNeil, Bert Waters, Charles Fay and Bernard Waters.
