Lawrence Herman Baade died Wednesday, May 27, 1987 at Holland Community Hospital, Holland, Michigan, following a short illness. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa with Pastor Harold O. Ward officiating. Pallbearers were Elmer Radloff, Malin Schultz, Virgil Kaiser, Milo Jacobia, Dayton Marfilius, and Don Montgomery. * The obituary does not state the place of burial.*

Lawrence was born December 10, 1911 in Farmersburg, Iowa to parents Herman and Maude (Jones) Baade. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith March 24, 1912 in Cresco, Iowa and confirmed March 10, 1925 in Farmersburg. He received his education in the Farmersburg School. On October 12, 1935 Lawrence was married to Ida Zieman by Rev. Kumpf at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa. The couple had one daughter.

Lawrence served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from June 1943 to December 1945. After returning from the service he farmed, operated a farm service, and hauled milk in the Monona area. He retired to Luana in 1976. The couple moved to their home in Monona in 1978. He was a member of the American Legion Post #519 in Monona and Lutheran Brotherhood. He served on the Luana Lutheran Church council and Luana City Council.

Preceding him in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife, Ida, and a daughter, Jeannie (Mrs. Paul Grafenberg) of Winona, Minnesota; 2 grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law, Marie Zieman and Phyllis Chaippe.
