Orvin Embretson Last Rites Held
Funeral services for Orvin Embretson, 80, were held Thursday afternoon, Feb. 24, at 2 o'clock at Norway Lutheran church with Rev. Landis Gross officiating.
Burial was in Norway Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites at the grave conducted by the St. Olaf American Legion.
Mr. Embretson died at his home, Monday, Feb. 21, after a long illness. Death was caused by a series of strokes.
He was born a son of Henry O. and Ingeborg (Benson) Embretson in Wagner, a town near St. Olaf, Aug. 13, 1905. He was a life long member of Norway Lutheran church and was active in the church functions. He also served as sexton for many years. In 1940 he moved from the farm to St. Olaf, where he was engaged as an electrician.
He entered military service Dec. 11, 1942, and was honorably discharged in 1943.
He was married to Gladys Knudson Johnson Dec. 15, 1946, who preceded him in death in 1950. He was married to Lona Fuelling May 25, 1956.
Surviving are his wife, a sister, Mrs. Adelia Engelhardt of St. Olaf, two nephews, Duane Engelhardt of Springfield, N. J., and James Engelhardt of Milwaukee, Wis.; and one niece, Mrs. Phyllis Thurn of St. Olaf.
Music at the services was provided by a Quintet composed by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Engelhardt, Mr. and Mrs. Dob Wold, and Pamela Ihde. Organist was Mrs. Walter Rugland.
Honorary pallbearers were business friends Myron Lindroth, Virgil Lenth, Dean Orvis, Fred Stendel, Vern Rugland, Forrest Feller, Maurice Vigen, and Leigh Mathews.
Active casket bearers were members of the St. Olaf American legions, LeRoy Larson, John Knuth, Art Knuth, Milton Hamann, Ole Landsgaard, Fred Rugland, Hale Corlett, Jr., and Donald Houg.
