Mrs. L. E. Egbert Funeral Services

Funeral services for Mrs. L. B. (Magdalene) Egbert, 70, were held Friday afternoon, April 9, at 1:30 o'clock at the Methodist church in Monona, with Rev. Paul Clements officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 12:30 until the time of the services. Burial was in the Monona City cemetery.

Mrs. Egbert had been in ill health for several years but was hospitalized for only a few days at the Postville hospital, where she died Wednesday morning, April 7, at 3 o'clock.

She was born the daughter of Louis and Magdalene, nee Zurcher, Jarms, July 4, 1894, in Giard township. She moved to Monona with her parents in 1907 and received her education in the Monona Public school.

She was employed for some time as a telephone operator and also worked in the post office in Monona.

She was married to Lloyd E. Egbert, Dec. 1, 1920.

Mrs. Egbert was a member of the Monona Methodist church and was a charter member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service where she took an active part for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was also a Past Worthy Matron of that organization.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, who died Oct. 26, 1963, and one sister, Mrs. William (Emma) Schlitter, who died April 7, 1911.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. John (Bertha) Mueller of Longview, Wash., and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Music at the services was provided by Mrs. George Martin and Mrs. Ben Frese. Mrs. Ivon Schultz was the organist.

Pallbearers were Harland Kutzbach, Earl Jones, Floyd Friedlein, Arden Schlitter, Gordon Hansmeier, and Ronald Mueller.
