Herman Topel Last Rites Held

Funeral services for Herman William Topel, 54, were held last Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Pilgrim Evangelical United Brethern church with Rev. A. W. Ebert officiating.

Burial was in the City cemetery.

His body was taken to Pilgrim church at 11 o'clock in the morning, where it lay in state.

He died suddenly at his home on the Dr. C. W. Rominger farm at Sixteen, Wednesday morning April 20, at 8:30 o'clock from a heart attack.

He was born May 21, 1900, on a farm in Allamakee county, a son of Charles and Minnie, nee Schlitter, Topel. He received his education in the rural school of his home vicinity. He was employed for several years by C. G. Schultz in Monona and later went to farming. For the last seven years he operated the Rominger farm.

He was married to Zelda Minnie Timmerman, Sept. 30, 1925, in the home of his parents.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Darlene) Keehn of Waukon, and Eileen at home; six sons, Wilbert of Sparta, Wis.; Alfred of Harpers Ferry, Robert of Waukon, and Donald, Wayne, and Gary at home; one sister, Mrs. Joe (Minnie) Klima; five brothers, Theodore of McGregor, Clarence, Bert, George, and Elmer of Monona; and 3 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Charles.

Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Justus Kammerer and Mrs. Jackson Turner, who sang "Someday the Silver Cord Will Break" and "It is Well with My Soul", Mrs. A. W. Ebert was the organist.

Pallbearers were: Clarence, Elmer, and George Topel and Willis, Theodore, and Harry Timmerman.
