Frederick Henry Christian Panncke was born October 5, 1841, in Loizow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. In the year 1872 he emigrated to America, locating near Garnavillo, Iowa, where on August 12th of that same year he was united in marriage with Dorothea Busacker. Four children were born to this union, two of whom preceded him in death. Twelve years later he moved with his family to Grand Meadow Township to the farm where they remained for 31 years. Nine years ago they moved into Postville where they remained until about a year ago when they went back to the farm to make their home with the family of their son Fred, where on Sunday, February 4, 1923, he passed away after a short illness at the advanced age of 81 years, three months and 29 days.

He leaves to mourn his loss his son Frederick (Caroline) Panncke Jr., his daughter, Amelia (John) Heins, three grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by one brother and four sisters in Germany.

The funeral was held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in this city at 1:30 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. Schmidt. Interment in the Postville cemetery.

*NOTE* I am married to Frederick Panncke's great-great-grandson, Bradley Wilker. Frederick's son, Frederick Jr., is his grandmother, Ella Wilker's, father.
