Arno Wilker, son of Fred and Emma Lahrs Wilker, was born October 23, 1908 in Clayton County, Iowa. He died at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa on January 11,1973 at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 18 days.
He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center, Iowa.
He was married to Ella Panncke on December 6, 1945. To this union was born one child. They made their home in Postville, Iowa where he worked as a truck driver. They farmed near Luana and near Postville before making their home on the farm where they have lived for the past ten years.
He served in the Field Artillery unit with the United States Army for 4 ½ years during World War II, serving overseas in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother George.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife; Ella, his son; Fred, 2 grandsons; Brian and Bradley, 3 sisters; Esther (Luver) Palas, Lorraine (Earl) Bothel, Lucille (Harold) Kruse and several nieces and nephews.
Burial in Postville cemetery.
*NOTE* I am married to Arno's grandson, Bradley Wilker. Arno's son, Fred, is his father.
