Fredericka Schaub, nee Ihlendfeldt, was born August 15, 1835 in Pommerania, Germany. About forty-nine years ago she immigrated to America, locating in Clayton County, Iowa on a farm near Cedar Creek. The last years of her life she spent with her son, Charles Brandenburg Sr. in Garber, Iowa, where she passed away Friday morning, September 18, 1931, at 3 a.m. Previous to her passing she was bed-fast the last year. She leaves to mourn her death three children; two daughters and one son, namely, Marie (Fred) Kahlstorf, Lena (Charles) Zittergruen, and Charles Brandenburg Sr. Her husband and one daughter preceded her in death. Besides her children, mourning her loss are thirty grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren and many friends. Her passing takes out of our midst one of the oldest residents of Clayton County. She reached the age of 96 years, one month and three days. Funeral services were conducted September 20, 1931, at the home of her son Charles, and at the Lutheran church at Elkport. Burial was at the cemetery in Garnavillo. The Rev. F.E. Damm of Elkport was in charge.
*NOTE* I am married to Fredericka's great-great-great-grandson, Bradley Wilker. Fredericka's daughter, Marie, was his grandma Ella Wilker's grandmother.
