Dorothea Elizabeth Panncke who had been making her home with her son, Fred Panncke and family in Grand Meadow, Iowa, died suddenly at seven o’clock Friday morning, April 5, 1930.
Dorothea, a sister of the late Henry Busacker, was born in Grebs, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, on November 4, 1844, and came to the United States in 1872, settling in Garnavillo, Iowa. She was married to Frederick Panncke in Garnavillo, and four children were born to them, of which Fred (Caroline) Panncke and Amelia (John) Heins of this place survive. Her husband passed away seven years ago. Three grandchildren also survive.
Dorothea, who had reached the ago of 85 years and five months was a charter member of the Ladies’ Aid Society of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of this city.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the late home, and at two o’clock from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. Braun of Garnavillo, Iowa officiating, and were largely attended. Burial in Postville, Iowa cemetery.
*NOTE* I am married to Dorothea's great-great-grandson, Bradley Wilker. Dorothea's son, Fred Jr., was his grandmother, Ella Wilker's, father.
