Funeral services for Frank A. Niemeyer, 83, were held at the residence at 9:30 Friday, March 07, and at St. Joseph's church, Elkader, at 10 o'clock. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. B. H. Skahill officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Mr. Niemeyer died at St. Joseph Sanatorium, Dubuque, on Tuesday, March 04. He had been in failing health for the past three years.

Frank A. Niemeyer was born at Lansing, Iowa, Oct. 14, 1868, the son of Herman and Anna Niemeyer. He received his education in the Immaculate Conception school at Lansing and the Campion academy at Prairie du Chien, Wis. He worked in Chicago for a time.

At the death of his father in 1890 he returned to Elkader and with his mother continued to operate the Niemeyer Bros. general mercantile store.

On Oct. 14, 1896, he was married to Christine Hoxmeier at Lansing. Mr. Niemeyer continued in business here until 1926, when he retired and sold his store to his sons, Norbert and Leo.

Mr. Niemeyer was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elkader and of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters and two sons, namely: Mrs. F. H. (Georgia) Uriell, Evanston, Ill.; Mrs. E. G. (Marguerite) Borgen,, Des Moines; Norbert H., Leo F., Helena G., and Dolores, all of Elkader; three sisters, Mrs. William Needham and Miss Helena Niemeyer, both of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. K. C. Gifford, Kennewick, Wash; also six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were L. J. Ehrhardt, L. D. Dittmer, Edward Finley, Louis Glawe, George Kruse, and R. . Hyde.

Relatives from a distance who attended the services were: F. C. Niemeyer and Miss Marie Niemeyer, Stockton, Ill; Charles Niemeyer, Elizabeth, Ill.; Louis Hoxmeier, Mrs. William Lampe, Mrs. Peter Welsh and Mrs. Joe Gonner, Bellevue; Mrs. Susan Hoxmeier, Alton; Tony Niemeyer, Galena, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Uriell and Frank Jr., Evanston, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Borgen and David, Des Moines.
