Funeral services for Louis J. Stallbaum were held from the residence at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon; Jan. 22, 1952, and at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at 2:00. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Mr. Stallbaum was in good health for a man of his age. Last Thursday afternoon he had the misforttune to fall and injure his ankle, but nothing more serious. Last Saturday evening he retired about 9:30 and shortly after died of a heart attack. He had reached the age of 78 years, 8 months and 20 days.

Louis J. Stallbaum, the son of Peter and Kathleen Wistrick Stallbaum, was born April 29, 1873, in Cox Creek township, Clayton county, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Emilia Walther by the Rev. Leonhardt, on April 29, 1908. After their marriage they moved to the farm now owned by Cleo Lee. After farming for five years they moved to Elkader, which has since been their home with the exception of seven years spent in Dubuque.

Mr. Stallbaum was a mechanic by occupation and was well known in Clayton county for his skill in repairing tractors and other farm machinery.

Mr. Stallbaum was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church. He was confirmed with the class of 1913 by the late Rev. C. H. Franke.

He is survived by his wife and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, namely: Mrs. Henry (Mary) Cords, Mrs. Henry (Minnie) Possehl and John who died March 15, 1951.

Pallbearers were: Leroy Cords, William Cords, Clyde Smith, George Falb, William Miller, Carl Huehner.

Rerlatives from a distance who attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Huebner, Mr. and Mrs. William Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Martindale, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schultz, all of Postville; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cords and Irvin Cords all of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Walther, Carl Huebner and Maryln all of Garnavillo; George Falb and William Mueller, Elgin; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dinan, St. Olaf; Mrs. John Block, Cozad, Neb.; and Mrs. Jergan Heiderbrink, Gothenberg, Neb.
