Clayton County Register, 24 Jan. 1952.
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Dorman, 84, were held at the Gill funeral chapel in Strawberry Point Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Wayne L. Carlson in charge of the services. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Anna Alderson Fowells was born at Fayette June 19, 1867, one of a pair of twin daughters born to Thomas and Margaret Cook Fowells. The other twin died at the age of two years. Anna was a member of the first graduating class of the Fayette high school and taught in the rural schools around Fayette, in the Fayette public school and in the Spirit Lake public school for 17 years prior to her marriage to Dr. Charles W. Dorman at Fayette July 02, 1902. The couple made their home in Strawberry Point where Dr. Dorman practiced his profession of dentistry. They were the parents of two daughters, one of whom died in infancy, and the other, Mrs. H. M. (Doris) Hansen of Strawberry Point, who survives. Dr. Dorman died in 1939 and Mrs. Dorman has made her home with her daughter much of the time since then.
Mrs. Dorman learned the art of oil and pastel painting and crayon painting in high school and these pastimes became her hobby. She was a member of the Congregational church and for 13 years taught a Sunday school class of boys. She was a member of the Order of Rebekahs and in 1949 received her 50th year pin as a member of the Order of Eastern Star, having been selected as Worthy Matron of the local chapter for six terms during her long membership.
Mrs. Dorman was for several years employed in the office of Dr. F. H. Howard, local physician, and was well known in the community. Her health had failed in recent years and it was found necessary to take her to the Willard hospital in Manchester last Saturday. She died there Sunday, Jan. 20, at 4:30 p.m.
