Funeral services for Edward Pieper were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the Tuecke funeral chapel in Garnavillo, with the Rev. Pannkuk officiating. Pallbearers were: Jack Frye, Dean Jones, Jack Vorwald, Martin Meehan, Ray Werges and Alvin Strukoff.
Edward Pieper, son of Herman and Sophia (Hedeman) Pieper, was born in Garnavillo township, Clayton county, Iowa, April 15, 1867, and died in an Iowa City hospital Jan. 26, 1955, after a brief illness.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Sommerland of St. Paul's church in Garnavillo.
As a young man he was employed in Western Iowa as a carpenter for a number of years, and in 1896 the family moved to a farm near Clayton, which Ed operated until 1938, when he and his sister Minnie moved to a home in Clayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Ella, and is survived by one sister, Minnie and one nephew Duluth Pieper.
