Funeral services were held Monday morning, Jan. 10, for Henry J. Meyer, 75, who died at his farm home east of Elkader, following a heart attack on Thursday morning, Jan. 06. Services were conducted from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elkader. Burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. D. A. Gorman officiated at the services.
Meyer was born in Boardman township on September 29, 1879, and was a son of Nicholas and Cecila Meyer. In 1906 he was united in marriage to Ollie Shaw. He spent his entire life in the farming area near Elkader.
Surviving are his wife and three sons, LeRoy of Mesa, Arizona, and Raymond and Robert both of Elkader. He also leaves three brothers and a sister; Charles and George, both of Elkader, Bernard of Temple City, Calif., and Mrs. Harry (Josie) LaVoice of Temple City, Calif.
Pallbearers were: Thor Fisko Jr., Jake Rothlisberger, Fred Stendel, Vernon Shaw, Gayle Maggert and Claude Maggert. Attending the funeral from out of town Were: Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Shaw of Arlington, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Shaw of Odessa, Mich.
