Funeral services for Mrs. Tillie M. Dohrer were held at the family residence at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, and at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was at the East Side cemetery.
Mrs. Tillie M. Dohrer, the daughter of R. E. Meyer and Chrystaleba Trumbull Meyer, was born in Cox Creek township, June 11, 1880. On August 20, 1908, she was united in marriage to August A. Dohrer by the late Rev. C. Franke. The young couple remained on the farm, in Cox Creek township, until 1920, when they moved to Elkader, where they resided.
Mrs. Dohrer had been in failing health for over a year, but confined to her bed about a week. She died Nov. 17, 1953, at the McGregor hospital, at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 6 days.
She was a member of Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, the Women's Guild, Eastern Star and Service Star Legion.
Surviving are her husband, one brother, Judge Joseph E. Meyer of Des Moines, two sisters, Miss Mary Meyer and Mrs. Anna Burgholzer of Elkader, besides several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and seven brothers.
Pallbearers were six nephews: Herman, Joseph, Carl and Arthur Meyer, John and Harold Dohrer.
