Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Webb, 90, were held at the Witt funeral chapel at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, April 09. The Rev. Herbert G. Kelly officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.
Mrs. Webb died late Tuesday, April 06, 1948, in Finley hospital, Dubuque, where she had been taken that day, after having been found ill in her home.
Ida Schroeder, was born at Clayton, Iowa, on March 24, 1858, the daughter of Louis and Louisa Schroeder. She was one of a family of six children, three brothers, Hugo, Otto, and Henry, and two sisters, Emma and Caroline, all of whom preceded her in death.
Upon finishing school she took up the teaching profession. For several years she taught in the public school of Elkader.
She was united in marriage on October 07, 1892 to J. E. Webb of Elkader who was also a teacher. He also served as superintendent of the Elkader schools for more than thirty years, and was later Clayton county recorder.
Following her husband's death thirty-eight years ago, Mrs. Webb continued her residence in Elkader.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were: L. J. Ehrhardt, Dr. L. A. Meder, Joel Clark, N. H. Niemeyer, Henry Benschneider, and F. E. Sharp.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Walter Runge, LaCrosse, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Barnes, Waverly; Mrs. Lena Opperman and Mrs. Otto Behrens, Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Smith, Guttenberg; and Mrs. Howard Stalnaker, Edgewood.
