Funeral services for Joe Blodgett, 56, Milwaukee, Wis., were held at St. Joseph's church in Elkader Tuesday, April 20. The Rev. B. H. Skahill officiated. Burial was at Guttenberg. Mr. Blodgett died suddenly of a heart attack Friday, April 16, in Milwaukee.
Joseph Blodgett was born May 24, 1891 at Millville, Iowa the son of George and Lucy DeSotel Blodgett. He attended the parochial school in Guttenberg. On October 20, 1915 at Dubuque he was married to Ernestine Niehaus who preceded him in death in 1920. For a number of years he made his home with his sister, Mrs. Ben Petsche. A machinist by trade, he went to Milwaukee in 1941 where he has been employed with the Sterling Motor Company. He was a member of Holy Trinity church in Milwaukee.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Eunice Hoover, Washington, D.C., and three sisters, Mrs. Ben Petsche, Elkader; Mrs. John Kentzelman, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. John Paar, Dubuque; also five grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his wife were two daughters who died in infancy.
Pallbearers were three nephews, Elvin Petsche, Reuben Christen, John Paar, two cousins, Howard DeSotel and Gerald Fassbinder, and Clarence Woods.
