GARBER: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Dannenbring, 74, were held at St. John's church, Garber, on Jan. 24, the Rev. S. E. Birkner, pastor, officiating.
Mary Clefisch was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, Sept. 09, 1870, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Clefisch. She died Jan. 22, 8:20 a.m. after having been ailing about two years. On Oct. 28, 1944, she was taken to Dubuque and on Nov. 03, submitted to an operation. She was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. Harris of Dubuque where she remained until her death.
She was confirmed a member of St. John's church, Guttenberg. March 22, 1888 she was married to Frederick Dannenbring in the Ceres church near Garnavillo. To them the following children were born: John who continued to make his home with his mother; Mrs. Chas. Harris, Dubuque; Mrs. Orland Harris, Burlington; Mrs. Albert Kregel, Iowa Falls; Edward, Burlington; Mrs. Alva Hohl and Mrs. Leonard Staub also of Burlington; August who died in 1929; and two daughters who died in infancy. Mr. Dannenbring preceded her in death in 1931.
Besides the children mentioned, survivors are 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Kottke, Guttenberg, and Mrs. Lizzie Dunn, Janesville, Wis.; four brothers, John Clefisch, Garnavillo; Henry, Garber; August, Janesville, Wis.; and Fred, Guttenberg.
Mrs. Dannenbring and her husband farmed in this community until they retired in 1923. When St. John's Evangelical church, Garber, was organized they became members. She was also a member of the Martha society of St. John's church.
Pallbearers were: Rudolph Rentchler, George Webber, Fred Thein, Harry Hoffman, John Hinrichs, George Chettingger.
Burial was in Mt. Harmony cemetery.
