MCGREGOR: Funeral services were held last Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran church here for Edward D. Sparks, 73, who died the previous Thursday morning at LaCrosse, Wis., where he had been for several months in the hospital and receiving medical treatment. The Rev. F. Starke conducted the services with burial in Pleasant Grove cemetery.

He was born January 20, 1871, near McGregor, the son of Allan and Sarah Sparks. He served as a baggageman on the Milwaukee railroad for 47 years, being forced to retire only within the last few years following a fall in which he fractured his hip. In 1896 he married Ella Scott and two children were born to this union. His wife preceded him in death, and in 1937 he married Mrs. Petra Moe. He is survived by his widow, his daughter, Mrs. Chales Turner, Deerfield, Ill., his son, Scott Sparks, Los Angeles, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Anna Bennett, Olean, New York.
