The community was shocked and saddened when word was received Saturday of the death of Paul Dillon, which occurred at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, following a surgical operation performed at the Mercy hospital, Oelwein, early Saturday morning.
Kenneth Paul Dillon, 32, was born on Sept. 18, 1912, the son of Augustus and Ada Hines Dillon at Cox Creek.
He grew to manhood in the Cox Creek and Strawberry Point community, where he and his brother Reid farmed.
On Dec. 28, 1940, he was married to Miss Catherine Garity of Mount Ayr. They established their home on a farm south of Volga City. A son ack was born to them last March 15, 1944.
Surviving besides his wife and nine-months old son are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Dillon of Volga; four sisters: Mrs. Dave (Addie) Kenneally, Elkader; Mrs. Lawrence (Helen) Berns, Lamont; Mrs. Selmer (Grace) Olson, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Charles (Marie) Otterbeck, Volga; five brothers: Wesley, Lloyd and Clair, Strawberry Point; Reid, S K 2/c of the Navy and George in the Army overseas; also a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 19, at St. Mary's church, Strawberry Point at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. P. . Boyle, pastor, celebrated the requiem mass and officiated at the graveside.
Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery. Casket bearers were John M. O'Brien, Francis Farmer, A. J. Kluesner, Harry Opitz, Gerald Pugh and Dr. C. C. Kimpston.
