Clayton County Register, 08 June 1944.

MCGREGOR: Burial services in Pleasant Grove cemetery were held Tuesday morning for Joe Welter, 71, who died Sunday at Decorah. Funeral services were held in the Catholic church at Ossian Tuesday morning. Mr. Welter was a former resident of McGregor.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Julia Welter of Lansing, Iowa, his daughter, Mrs. Susan Gisleson of Dubuque, and two step-granddaughters, Mrs. William Wilkinson of Marquette and Mrs. Lloyd Nelson of Waterville, four great-grandchildren, and five sisters.
