Funeral services for Frank Liddy, 86, who died at his home here Thursday evening, Dec. 16, following a short illness, were held from the McTaggart-Haudenshield funeral home to St. Joseph's church Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken celebrated the requiem mass. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Frank Liddy was born in Read township Nov. 12, 1856, the son of Patrick and Bridget Liddy. He received his education in the rural schools of that community. For a number of years he was employed with a railroad construction company at Carroll, Iowa. In February, 1890, he was married to Margaret Moore, at Dubuque, following which they purchased a farm at Rock Valley, in Sioux county. They lived there until 1903, when they moved to Elkader, which has since been Mr. Liddy's home. He was preceded by his wife, Dec. 09, 1923, and by a son, James, in 1902.
In the spring of 1926 he was married to Miss Kate Donovan of Sheldon, who died Aug. 29, 1941.
He is survived by one son, Jerry, of Des Moines; four daughters, Mrs. James Rogers of LeMars, Mrs. Joseph Quinn of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Patrick Raftis of Wadena, and Mrs. Ray Welsch of Elkader; and 14 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Emmet Liddy, Fred Seybert, Harley Downey, Gerald Feeney, William Glawe and William Muench.
