Clayton County Register, 23 Dec. 1943.
Michael Stahl, 74, died at the County Home here Dec. 19, 1943. Funeral services were held here Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Witt funeral chapel, the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.
Michael Stahl was born in Clayton county, April 21, 1869, the son of Carl and Ernestine Heiden Stahl. Most of his life was spent in this community except for a number of years when he lived in Canada, South Dakota, and the western part of Iowa.
He is survived by three brothers, George and Louis of Elkader, and Ed Stahl.
Pallbearers were: Edward Livingood, George Ehrhardt, Arthur Eckheart, L. J. Palas, L. D. Smith, and Julius Pahlas.
