Mrs. Nettie McEvers Amling, daughter of Isaac and Evellina Lee McEvers, was born Jan. 27, 1880, in Elkport and died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1943, at her home here of a heart ailment, dropsy, and double-pneumonia. She reached the age of 62 years, 11 months and 14 days.
In the year 1897 she was married to Frederich Amling at Elkport, who with the following children survives: nine sons and three daughters, Theodore and Arthur of Elkader, Lloyd and Mrs. Ethel Schutte of Elkport, Mrs. Helen Hoffman, George, Marvin and Frank of Garber, Mrs. Goldie Hoffman of Edgewood, Wilbert of Dubuque, Pvt. Leroy who is stationed at Washington, D.C. Also 17 grandchildren, three brothers, John, Clarence and Leroy, all of Cedar Rapids, and three sisters, Tillie in Wisconsin, Daisy in Iowa, and Blanche in Illinois. Two sons preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Michael's Catholic church with Father H. J. Ginter officiating. Burial was in Elkport Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were six of her sons, George, Marvin, Frank, Pvt. LeRoy, Wilbert and Arthur Amling.
