GARNAVILLO: Funeral services were held here for Mrs. Amalia Mohrman on her 85th birthday, Sunday. She died early Thursday morning after a 10-day illness. The Rev. Victor Hackbarth conducted the services at the Mohrman home and at St. Paul's Lutheran church Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Mohrman was born in Read township, Dec. 12, 1858, the daughter of Henry and Margaret Hagensick Schumacher. When she was eight years old she moved with her parents to a farm near Postville and the following year they moved to Garnavillo. She was married Dec. 27, 1882 to Wm. Mohrman, who preceded her in death in 1930.
Mrs. Mohrman is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Verona Kaiser, National; Mrs. Celinda Mohrman, Postville; Mrs. Louise Kaiser, Garnavillo; two sons, Louis Mohrman, Garnavillo and Arthur Mohrman, St. Olaf, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Roebken, Garnavillo and Mrs. Bertha Tangeman, Elkader. Twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Mohrman was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church and of the Ladies Aid of which she was a charter member and a regular attendant at its meetings. When the organization celebrated its 50th anniversary in September of this year, she was one the three surviving charter members to be honored. Members of the Ladies Aid attended her funeral in a body.
Burial was made in the Garnavillo cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Fred Kuehl, Will and Orlando Schumacher, A. J. Roebken, Edwin Milewsky and Harold Tangeman.
