Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon, Nov. 29, at 1:30 o'clock at the Witt funeral chapel for Floyd Carl McSperrin who died at the Deaconess hospital in Spokane, Wash., Nov. 22, following a three weeks illness. The Rev. Paul Kitterer, pastor of the Frieden's Evangelical and Reformed church, officiated. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery with the Elkader lodge No. 72, A.F. & A.M. in charge.
Mr. McSperrin was born at Elkport, June 23 1899 the son of Isaac and Mary Waterman McSperrin. He attended the Elkader high school graduating with the class of 1919. The following year he went west, settling three years later in Spokane, Wash., where for the last 20 years he has operated the McSperrin barber shop.
June 23, 1942, he was married to Miss Henrietta Breakey of Spokane, following which they established their home at E. 518 Rowan Street in that city.
He was a member of the Manito Masonic Lodge No. 246 of Spokane and of the Congregational church.
Funeral services at Spokane were held at the Smith funeral home. They were conducted by Dr. Joel Harper of the First Congregational church and the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, his parents and other relatives.
Pallbearers were: H. H. Hall, George Schmidt, E. F. Seifert, Louie Kruse, J. W. Downie and Chas. Meder. Joe Cords was in charge of the graveside services.
Out of town people who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Minnie Tindell and Mrs. Amanda McSperrin and son Melvin, all of Dubuque; Miss Bertha Waterman, of Rock Island, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Waterman, of Elkport; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Schroeder and Mrs. Elizabeth Kruse, of Guttenberg; Mrs. G. W. White, Mrs. Lyle Kickbush and Mr. and Mrs. Walter White, of Osterdock.
