Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Klasen, 76, were held at Farmersburg Friday. Mrs. Klasen died Wednesday morning, Nov. 24, at _:50, following a stroke.
Mrs. Klasen, whose maiden name was Baade, was born in Germany Oct. 24, 1867. When she was six months old she came to America with her parents and remained at home and worked in neighboring homes until Jan. 24, 1890, when she was married to Fred Klasen. They lived on a farm west of Farmersburg for a few years, after which they bought a farm north of town and this continued to be their home until 1919, when they retired and moved to Farmersburg. When Mr. Klasen died Dec. 29, 1939, Mrs. Klasen continued to make her home in Farmersburg with the exception of last winter, when she stayed with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Klasen.
Mrs. Klasen is survived by her four children, Ella, Mrs. Frank Engelhardt; Amanda, Mrs. Oscar Henkes; Lora, Mrs. Albert Henkes and Harvey; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Eggers; three brothers, William, John, and Louis.
Mrs. Klasen was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and of the Ladies Aid.
Rev. H. M. Adix conducted the funeral services at 1:30 in the house and at 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church at Farmersburg. Burial was made at Farmersburg with six grandsons acting as pallbearers: Donald, Kenneth and Harlan Henkes, Vernon Houg, Alonzo and Wendell Engelhardt.
