Funeral services were held at St. Paul's church Friday afternoon for Henry G. Wilke, 79, who died at his home here last Monday evening after a lingering illness.
Mr. Wilke was born in Ohio, March 25, 1864. He came to Garnavillo with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wilke, when he was three years old. He married Wilhelmina Kuhlman June 15, 1893, and they made their home east of town. Mr. Wilke hauled cream for the local creamery and later he operated a dairy. Mrs. Wilke died Oct. 07, 1941.
Mr. Wilke is survived by two sons, Lester Wilke of Carroll, and Homer Wilke of Garnavillo; one sister, Mrs. Mary Beck of El Reno, Okla; two granddaughters, Wilma and Phyliss Wilke. One brother, Louis, preceded him in death.
Relatives and friends from out-of-town who attended the funeral were: A. D. Meehan and daughter, all of Elkader; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Meyer and August Dahl, all of Postville; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuhlman, Monona; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Frederick, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Frederick, Solon; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wilke, Farmersburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahl, St. Olaf.
