Mrs. Wm. Fischer, 56, died at her home here last Wednesday, shortly before noon, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at St. Peter's church Saturay afternoon with Rev. H. H. Steege officiating.
Mrs. Fischer was born Jan. 13, 1887, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thoma of Garnavillo. Her early years were spent here and she attended the public school. Aug. 29, 1906 she was married to William D. Fischer and the couple established their home on a farm near Clayton in which vicinity they spent most of their life. Six years ago they retired from farm life and moved to Clayton where they lived until a few weeks ago when they moved to their new home in Garnavillo which they purchased recently.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Fischer is survived by five children: Mrs. Ina Roloff of Metropolis, Ill., Lyle of Clayton, Forrest in the U.S. Navy, Earl of Clayton, and Grant of Guttenberg; her aged mother, Mrs. Fred Thoma of Bridgeport, Wis.; two brothers, Leonard of Derby, Kan., and George of Sioux City; one sister, Mrs. Sargent Borringer of Eastman, Wis., and 10 grandchildren. Her father and one sister preceded her in death.
