Nels Anderson, 57, a farmer living four and one-half miles southeast of Fayette was accidentally killed at his farm Friday, Oct. 08, when he was caught between two trailers and crushed. He and his son were combining and were ready to leave for home with two trailers of soy beans which were being pulled by a tractor. While leaning down to connect the trailers, Mr. Anderson's head was caught and crushed, and he died instantly.
Mr. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Anderson, was born in Wagner township, July 06, 1886. In 1918 he was married to Miss Emma Landsgard of Clermont. They settled on a farm in Marion township and later moved Mason City. They lived in various other places before moving to their farm near Fayette two years ago.
Surviving besides his wife and three children, Geneva, Arnold and Norbert, all at home, are one brother, Adolph of Elkader; three sisters Mrs. Clara Brabham of Elkader, Mrs. Clifton Powell of Elgin and Mrs. Otto Hanson of St. Olaf. His father, mother and one brother Benny preceded him in death.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the first confirmation class of the Highland Lutheran church.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 11, at the funeral home in Fayette with the Rev. Richard Schliepsieck officiating and at the Marion Lutheran church, where Dr. S. J. Strandjord had charge of the services. Burial was in the adjacent cemetery. Pall bearers were Henry and Ray Reierson, Ben Erickson, George and Harold Landsgard and Emil Johnson. Pallbearers at Fayette were Earl Sandhagen, Earl Schneider, Ersi Clegg, Herbert Jensen, Isaac Paul and Kenneth Gray.
