Funeral services for Edward Krauel, 67, were held here Saturday morning, Oct. 09, at 9:30 at St. Joseph's church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Edward Krauel was born at Garnavillo, May 27, 1876, the son of William and Carolyn Krauel. When he was seven years old he moved with his parents to National. Later he returned to Garnavillo, where on October 10, 1899, he was married to Catherine Fallon, who preceded him in death in 1935.
In 1909 they moved to Elkader, where Mr. Krauel was employed as a carpenter until several months before his death. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Surviving are two brothers, Oscar Krauel of Aberdeen, S.D., and Joseph Krauel of Foreston, Minn.; four sisters, Mrs. Josephine Schmidt of Aberdeen, S.D., Mrs. G. W. Bauer and Mrs. John Nickolas of Foreston, Minn., and Mrs. Leo Burke of Milwaukee, Wis.
Pallbearers were: Ben Berns of National, Frank Hohman, Oscar, John and George Auer of Garnavillo, and Otto Beck of Elkader.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Joseph Krauel, Mrs. Anna Bauer and Mrs. John Nickolas, all of Foreston, Minn.; Mrs. Leo Burke and daughter Mary Jane of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Edward Auer and son George, Richard Hagensick and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Auer, all of Monona; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Claus, Mrs. Lillian Auer, Miss Calestia Auer, John Auer, Miss Brosia Auer, Oscar Auer, Mr. and Mrs. George Auer, Frank Hohman, all of Garnavillo; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Berns and children Loren and Marguerite, of McGregor.
