Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for William P. F. Kahlbaum, 79, who died Friday about 6 p.m. He had been ailing since last August.
Mr. Kahlbaum was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kahlbaum and was born in Klein Berster, Germany, June 07, 1864. When he was seven years old he accompanied his parents to America, settling in Iowa.
April 04, 1890, he was married to Henrietta Pahlas and they had six children, one son and five daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Kahlbaum celebrated their golden wedding anniversary three years ago, in 1940. For 30 years they lived on the fam which is now occupied by Louis Glawe. In 1920 the couple moved into Elkader where they had made their home for 23 years.
Mr. Kahlbaum is survived by his wife and the following children: George, Mrs. Effie Kruse, Mrs. Emma Glawe, Mrs. Mahalia Taake, Mrs. Hattie Kelpien and Mrs. Leona Vogt, all of Elkader and the surrounding community; six grandchildren; Valmah and Lavern Glawe, Helen Kruse, LaDean Taake, Ivadean and Eileen June Kelpien; and two sisters; Mrs. Annie Quinn of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Mrs. Emma Gottschalk of Elkader. One sister, Mrs. Doris Schaeffer, preceded him in death.
The Rev. D. A. Flesner officiated at the services at Zion Lutheran church. Burial was in the Clayton Center cemetery.
