Edward H. Meese died at his home in Littleport Wednesday, June 02, after a lingering illness of one and one-half years. Funeral services were held from the Hope Lutheran church in Littleport Saturday afternoon, June 05, with the Rev. Albert H. Guetzloff officiating. Burial was in the Union cemetery at that place.
He was born May 24, 1879, at High Point, Mo., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meese. On May 01, 1901, he was married to Anna Bente. They settled on a farm in Lodomillo township, where they lived until 1935, when they moved to Littleport which has since been their home.
Mr. Meese was a member of Hope Lutheran church board and belonged to the Woodman lodge and served as a member of the town council.
Surviving are his widow, four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Mitchell, Mrs. Lena Lewis and Mrs. Elsie Harris of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one son, Oscar Meese of Edgewood. Also five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Elmer Ashline, George Chettinger, Ray Hughes, William Hakert, Fred Behrens and Charles Hildebrand.
Relatives from a distance attending the services were: Mrs. Morris Hesner, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Titterman and two children, all of Chicago, and Mrs. Elsie Harris and two daughters of Jacksonville, Fla.
