Death came to Mrs. William D. Opperman, 75, at her home Sunday morning, May 30, following a lingering illness. Carolina Sophia Lindner was born in Fayette county, Nov. 29, 1868, the daughter of Adam and Margaret (Lowe) Lindner. She was married to William D. Opperman, Jan 29, 1891, in the St. Sebald Lutheran church of Strawberry Point, the Rev. G. H. Fuehr officiating. The couple were engaged in farming near Arlington until 36 years ago, when they retired and moved into their home here, where they had since resided. Two years ago they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
Surviving are her husband and the following three daughters and one son: Ida, at home; Mrs. Carl (Lillian) Weger of Arlington; Mrs. Gertrude DeShaw of Hopkinton; and Otto of Hawkeye. There are also six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock from the home and at two o'clock from the Emanuel Lutheran church, the Rev. L. A, Stumme in charge. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
